Happy Birthday!

 At the beginning of the month our middle daughter turned 17.  She will be graduating from high school while she is 17. Yikes!  The other two made her a tied blanket in the colors she requested. It is nice to be wrapped in love (even when it is sweltering outside!)

Then she received some fun, simple gifts from us.  She has already made a few things from the Fun Food magazine. Oh how I wish I could slow down time!

Photo Shoot

We thought we'd take some pictures of our senior in addition to having some professionally done.  We'd like to take more.  Here are some from in our backyard and close to home.  The shadows are a problem, but it was fun.  It helps to have a lovely subject.  The daylillies bloom close to her birthday so it seemed like a good idea to include them. Emmy wanted to get in on the act too.

Dressing Up

Middle daughter went to the midnight showing of the final Harry Potter movie with her friends when it opened. (Remember I am behind in posting--see the post Welcome Home Computer.) She dressed up as Luna Lovegood.

Meanwhile the youngest was in a Lion King production at the dance studio. She was Sarafina and a Prideland dancer. 

Back to Luna. I thought these earrings that middle daughter made were cute. I started seeing possibilities such as cherries and strawberries.  The directions are found here. Harry Potter has been fun for this generation. What will  be next?

Workday Cheer

Here are a few views that I appreciate on my way to and from work.  This little garden area is at the transit station.  The whole area is well maintained and the drivers are very professional and friendly.

On the ground floor of the building where I work there is what I call the water wall.  I could just look at it all day, but I don't get paid for that : (

A well known paint company has a couple of floors in the building.  Their elevator lobby is bright and a good advertisement for their product.  So there is beauty to be found everywhere!

Welcome Home Computer & the Zoo

We were without our desktop computer for about 3 weeks.  Apparently a surge protector is not a guarantee that a popped circuit won't ruin your hard drive.  We now own something called an uninterruptable power supply and a lot less money.  We hired the Geek Squad to do the repair.  I sadly cannot recommend them.  I now have some posts to catch up on.

This is a quick one of our trip to the zoo.  I have many other zoo posts since it is a place that I enjoy so this one is abbreviated.  The kids have been sitting on the turtle statue above for years.  The youngest still likes to do it although she is getting a bit big.

With my mad photography skills ha-ha, I thought this was actually a pretty decent fish picture.

This eagle has made our zoo its home for years since it sadly cannot fly.  Aren't you glad the turkey didn't become our national bird? 

I'm not sure why, but there is a Dr. Seuss theme at the zoo this summer. We love "How the Grinch Stole Christmas."
