October Weekend

In early October my father-in-law came for a weekend visit.  This man raised five children.  Need I say more?

We enjoyed having him.  This time he stayed at a hotel which was more comfortable than our accomodations.  We live in a small house and our guest bed is a fold out with a not very plush mattress.

Middle daughter and I also took a 3 mile walk at the arboretum.  It was crazy busy.  When we tried to stop there with my father-in-law on Saturday we couldn't park.  On Sunday when my daughter and I left cars were lined up on the highway.  Who knew?

Apple Orchard Visit

On a fine September day we went to pick Haralson apples.  With that comes some horsing around and looking at the scarecrows.

This one was my favorite.

The apples are already gone.  Next year's trip to the orchard may require advance planning or we will be going with only one assistant. Yikes!

Fall Visit

We have had such a beautiful autumn and we have truly enjoyed our membership at the local arboretum.  Two things I'm grateful for as we get nearer to Thanksgiving.

We toured the scarecrow display about a month ago.

This picture has nothing to do with scarecrows, but I thought it was interesting.

Note the titles of the displays--clever.

Of course, we have (had) some pretty flowers in our own backyard.
