Where have I been?

I am unreliable. I knew it. One computer issue and I disappeared for a couple of months! I'm back. Thank you, yes, we had a nice Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's. We enjoyed many of the kids' musical performances, did some entertaining, and made it through the Christmas snowstorm. I am now using a new computer.

I have been enjoying a little more spare time since the hubbub has died down. I just read this book by one of my favorite authors. It is part of a series involving Beatrix Potter.

Then I moved on to this book. My aunt mentioned this author. It is the story of immigrants from Norway who settle in the Dakotas. I am not done with it yet, but I have read over 100 enjoyable pages so I feel comfortable recommending it. There are more books in this series. It really makes you think about how hard it was to leave everything and come to a new land where you couldn't speak the language and didn't understand the currency. Many times one had to rely on complete strangers.
I found this cute crocheted candy cane on KeepntheSunnyside.blogspot.com. She had a youtube video on how to make it. It took me a few tries and then the lightbulb came on. I'd like to make more, but...

My crochet hook and yarn were taken over by this intent young lady.

I also had fun picking out photos for this cute, extremely inexpensive scrapbooking type calendar that I purchased at Michaels sometime before Christmas.

I will attempt to blog a little more often, but with a birthday party, a trip and a graduation party in the future, we'll see how it goes.
