Last night we went to heaven. What else would you say about a place with so many beautiful, gorgeously colored flowers? It is also paradise for anyone who likes taking pictures. First we started out with a picnic to sustain us. Nothing fancy. The chocolate frosted cupcakes ended the eating part of our adventure quite well.
There was a wall of flowers with a door and a window. Too bad the view through the door and window was of the parking lot, but we'll ignore that.
There were many fountains including this one behind hubby and I. We'd all like a water fountain in our yard except for maybe hubby whose job it would be to install and maintain it : )
Some of the flowers, like this purple coneflower were easily recognized. Others were not, but there were name signs by everything. The roses have the most fun names. Sometime we should make a list of them. I remember "evening in Paris" and "Julia Child."
This picture doesn't do this multicolored blossom justice.
There was an artist-in-residence in May who constructed this structure using five truckloads of willow branches. When I saw it in the newspaper, I wasn't too excited about it, but it was really neat to be in it.
This is what the view up from inside the structure looked like. Patrick Dougherty has made sculptures from branches all over the world. The arboretum building had a display of photographs of them. They were all very unique.
The youngest is still at camp so that is why she isn't in any of the pictures. We'll have to go again.
Doesn't God do good work? I'm inspired to do better in our yard next year. We'll definitely make more trips to visit this place.
