Birthday

Wednesday was my birthday. It was a work/school day so I did what I pleased until everyone came home to help me celebrate. Since it was a gorgeous day, I chose to take a walk around one of my favorite lakes (along with many other people).
Isn't this little elf door charming? Inside are trinkets people have left for the elf so far this year. I don't know how often he comes to collect them.

I spotted some irises growing by the path. I really should plant some. I wonder how they hold up to rabbits.

The homes in the area are in a variety of styles from palatial to charming cottages--modern to quaint. Close to where I parked there was a cottage with bird houses on the fence posts.

I looked around a few of my favorite shops in the area. I got gifts from hubby and the kids later in the afternoon. Apparently the kids think I like chocolate (and I Love Lucy.) They are right!

Dinner was on the deck. Aloha Burgers from Gooseberry Patch Quick and Easy Family Favorites and strawberry shortcake for dessert. It was a wonderful day!
